The Best Web Sites For Teachers


After an exhaustive search for the best web sites for teachers I have found a huge amount of information that teachers will use to better their classrooms.  The web sites are categorized by the general grade levels of elementary and secondary schools.  If you have a web site that has benefited teachers or students please e-mail me at smith@sbc.edu and let me know.

K-12

These are the best web sites for all teachers of any grade level.

Education World has a variety of lesson plan topics, article archives, subject resources, a counseling page, a special education page, a vocational education page and many pre-school activities.

Lesson Planz has an organized site for teachers where they can search by specific grade level.  There are a variety of lesson plans, web based lessons, and worksheets for all grades and subjects.  This site features an A-Z bank of lesson plan themes, seasonal activities, articles, teacher tips and a teacher chat board.

Ed Helper is a wonderful site designed to help teachers.  This site offers organized lesson plans and activities by subject and grade level.  This site is unique in that it offers activities and lesson plans to prepare students for the SAT test.

Teachnet is smart tool for busy teachers that organizes lesson plans and activities by a variety of subjects.  There is a special teacher to teacher chat room and conference boards that give let teachers share advice and other great ideas.  This site has a store to purchase teacher supplies, wonderful bulletin board ideas and a special page for lesson plans for parents.

Teacher Vision is a great site that offers newsletters, professional development, classroom management techniques, and information on subject areas with a detailed variety of lesson plans for each.

Teacher Net is a huge site dedicated to teachers.  This site has a variety of unique lesson plans from teachers all over the country.  There are lesson plans in the 4 blocks of literacy, special education, physical education, pre-school and all other standard school subjects.  This site allows teachers to submit their own lesson plans that have benefited them.  This is a great site for unique lesson plans and new ideas.

Teach-nology is a website that has over 18,132 lesson plans, teaching ideas and worksheets for teachers.  There is a huge variety of lesson plan and activity categories that range from english as a second language to special education and world languages.

Ask Eric is an educational web site that is perfect for teachers.  This site offers lesson plans by subject, mailing lists, question archives, ERIC database, and it shows you how to write a lesson plan and submit it on their site.

The Academy Curricular Exchange is a wonderful site that offers a variety of curricular lesson plans in every subject.  Each lesson plan has a specific grade listed and there are thousands of lesson plans and mini lessons.

The Busy Teacher's Web site is a cute site that offers lesson plans and activities for all grade levels, but especially for secondary education.  The subjects on this site range from archaeology to interactive web projects and high school guidance and counseling advice.

The Lesson Plans Page is a huge web site that offers over 1,500 free lesson plans for PreK-12.  This site is wonderfully organized in a step by step process in order for teachers to get the exact information you want.
 
 
 

PreK-8

These are the best web sites for grades preschool up to 8th grade.

Scholastic is a wonderful site for teachers and parents.  This site offers online activities, book clubs and software, and has a teacher store.  There are monthly highlights of themes and lesson plans for teachers to use.  The site is easy to use and organized very well.

College Station is a unique web site designed to better help teachers with lesson plans appropriate to their grade level.  All of the lessons were created by teachers at Pebble Creek Elementary School.  This site offers some unique themes such as discovering Japan and mollusks.

The Teacher's Desk is wonderful web site with a collection of over 150 lesson ideas for spelling, writing, english, reading and vocabulary activities.

Pro-Teacher is a huge web site designed for grades K-6.  This site offers a teaching ideas archive, network support, classroom management tips, and a variety of subjects for teachers to pull lesson plans from.  This is a great web site for future, present and substitute teachers.

Playhouse Disney is a great web site for teachers and parents.  This site offers educational online activities for younger children and has a special parents page.

Kinder Korner is a great web site for Kindergarten and First grade teachers.  This site offers wonderful lesson plans and tons of great teacher clip art.  This is site is highly recommended.
PreK-12  Web Site Directories/Web site Banks/Web Links

These are the best web directories for teachers of any grade level.

Sites For Teachers is the largest web site bank with 438 web sites for teachers.  This site has a link to anything a teacher needs or wants to know.  This site is highly recommended!

Momsview is a unique site that offers tons of information for mothers and teachers.  This site has wonderful links to thousands of lesson plans and activities.  This site covers all kinds of information from home schooling to online education.

The University of Alberta Libraries has a wonderful web site directory to professional lesson plans that have been tested and reviewed by other teachers.  This site has links to other educational sites to get true and tested lesson plans by professionals.

The Education Technology Support site from Davis School District has wonderful web links to tons of teacher lesson plans sites and other teacher friendly sites.  There is a search engine on this site to look for a specific topic and there are pages and pages of information on curriculum subjects and themes.
