Glad ® Tour

Purpose: To introduce students to the day-to-day inner workings of an Industrial Engineer. Students were familiarized with the tasks required to keep a factory safe and functioning as well as the commitment it takes to be a successful engineer.

Before the tour, we were required to perform research on the Glad ® Company and write a memorandum on our findings about the company in general along with some key terms that would be discussed on the tour. While at the plant, we were required to take notes and ask questions in order to learn as much as we possibly could about working as an engineer on an industrial level. We learned to dress professional as well as safe for being in the industrial work place. There was also a presentation on the many level and kinds of engineering that are necessary to make a company like Glad ® run with precision and excellence. We were also charged with writing a post-tour memo discussing the things we learned while at the plant.

I feel that my strengths during this project were my research and memo writing skills. Since this was one of the numerous memos that had been written at this point, I feel I was more than adequately prepared to successfully convey what I had learned within the length of a memo. I feel that my weakness during this project was asking questions. We were unable to take notes during the tour or ask very many questions since the factory
