| MARCUS 2007 |
I presented a paper I wrote in the fall of 2006 for the class "More than Meets the Eye." Abstract: In 1493 Michael Wolgemut – and possibly Albrecht Dürer – created the woodcut, Circe and Ulysses, for the densely illustrated Nuremberg Chronicle. After an overview of Homer’s original text, I address how Wolgemut’s pictorial depiction varies to make it a cautionary tale against women. To explain this reinterpretation, I explore the contemporary artistic, intellectual, and religious context in Nuremberg when this complex work of art was created. If you would like me to send you a copy of the paper, please contact me. |

| The Cardboard Boat Regatta 2007 |
For this project I worked with a team of three other students to design, build, and race a boat made entirely of corrugated board and duct tape. The boat could weigh no more than 20 lbs, use no more than 50 ft of tape, and be able to carry two people around a pre-designated course. My team finished in fourth place and won first place for buoyancy. |

I am a peer tutor for a few hours a week in Latin. I mostly work with the intermediate level classes. I review concepts, help with homework, and provide extra practice. |

| Rusticatio Virginia 2007 |
This was a week-long program that I participated in this past summer. Approximately 30 participants of varying ages and written Latin skill levels lived and learn together speaking only Latin. I was the youngest participant there. It was and intense, eye-opening experience. I hope to continue with similar programs. |
This was organized by SALVI. An informational brochure of the specific program I participated in can be found here. |
