At the start of the semester I worked with two other classmates on a cardboard boat project. The boat had to float two people, weigh less than twenty pound, and the only material that could be used was the cardboard provided and a 2" X 50' roll of duct tape. With this project I learned the importance of work distribution, communication, and trust. I have found that my work distribution and trust skills need work which I hope to better as I work more with group members.

I worked with two other classmates to design and build a catapult. The device had to be no larger than 24” X 24” X 24”, weigh no more than 10 pounds, and cost no more than $25 to build. I found the skills from the previous project to be useful in this project as well. I learned that time management is vital in group projects along with group communication and meeting. I need to work on my time management skills which I found to be very weak while doing this project.

We were also given the task of giving an oral presentation for our catapult project. I though this would be a fun task that wouldn't become stressful, I was proven wrong very quickly. I learned that these reports need to be understandable to all as well as contain enough information to get the main points across.

Through this semester we have been assigned several memorandums. This has proven to be a very effective way in conveying information in an informal way.

Proposals are detrimental to the success of any task. Without the skill in writing a proposal the help necessary can not be obtained. This was a new skill for me, but proved to be one of my favorite written assignments. I am a very objective person which is what a proposal has to be.
